It saves them money when they're made to not have a clock and like you mentioned wall clocks and all of our devices have clocks now. I don't miss it.
Satellite receivers have never had clocks.. that was a cable box thing stemming back to the 80s
I personally like the clock as it sets itself, and is just convenient, and I am not a fan of the new UI so am holding on to Navigator as long as possible (although I'm 99% sure after Cinemax drops off gold, that's finally enough for me to cut it altogether)
