Re: [Serious] Are all hospitals in Quebec this bad?

But when other people say that NJ is "Full of mob guys!" or "Best known for the refineries!" we don't yell "Xenophobia! Xenophobia!"

If at all times the other states were talking about you, it was to say negative things, without ever proving anything except using : ",because, well, NJ" maybe you would be more offended.

No. Because there’s no collective victimhood in NJ. They have goombahs and dumpy cities like Newark and lots of other places too. They just don’t whine about it being that way. Reality is reality.

But we're not.

We get on with life.

Ever since colonial times, NJ has felt ignored because of being overshadowed by its two neighbors NYC and Philadelphia. Even Ben Franklin commented on that.

If [some] people in Quebec define themselves by saying "we're not Canadians", and if a major theme of Canada is people saying "we're not Americans!", then a major part of New Jersey identity is saying "we're not New Yorkers!".

And we laugh about it.

It's why so many comedians have come from New Jersey, back to Abbott and Costello, Ernie Kovacs, Danny DeVito, etc.
