I was given an electric dryer by my in-laws when we first came back to Lorain(his military retirement)...after 2 months of high electric bills...I TOLD my husband to go to the old Maytag store in downtown Lorain and see if they would 'swap' the new electric dryer for a gas dryer...he tried...I WENT downtown and told them that it was a gift to us and only 2 months old (they looked up the receipt)...they STILL refused, I wanted the Maytag Headquarters phone#...talked to somebody ('higher ups'), explained the situation...they in turn had me give the phone to the Store Manager...and the expression on the man's face went from 'smug' to ghost white! which also included unlimited FREE service calls (included free parts). I still have the gas dryer and have had only 1 service call on it -control panel.
So, to reduce your electric bill, I would suggest getting a gas dryer.
