Verizon FiOS TV → Quantum router mandatory?

Is the FiOS router still necessary for the boxes to work properly? It’s my understanding that the older boxes would not have all features available is the router was disconnected.

Is that still the case with the newer FiOS equipment? I’m thinking of switching back to FiOS and would want to use Ethernet from the ONT into my UniFi router and skip the Quantum router altogether.

Vz router is required for activation of boxes.

I used my own Asus router with an Actiontec MOCA bridge and my STB worked but wouldn't update until I connected a FIOS router as the main router.

Though wouldn't I be able to have them activate the Ethernet port on the ONU then connect to my router leave the COAX connection into the Quantum router?

Quantum router has to be primary for Internet access.

They meant internet access on the STBs. Guide, VOD, etc

So I’d be able to go from the Ethernet port on the ONT to my router then connect the Quantum router to one of my switch ports for the STB functionality.
