HighSpeed posted : Awesome video. That helps a lot. So it seems like it's a direct connection to your modem, which is good. I bet there is probably an amp right in front the tap at the pole or ped. Not to worry, a 6 db pad / attenuator will knock those signals down to acceptable specs. This will twist on directly to the modem itself inline with the coax you have on the modem already. This is what I would do.

This is what you need: »www.amazon.com/6db-Atten ··· 013L48XA

However, if you don't want to try that, have you scheduled a tech to come out and check or did you start here first?
HighSpeed posted : You got a lot going on there. Can you trace cables? In that second photo, you see that ground wire coming off that coupler? That's the ground block I'm talking about. The black cable going into it is probably the Cox coax line in and the white one that goes out, I would assume goes to your modem. However, that first picture is concerning. It looks like you have some kind of coax distribution and a 3-way splitter maybe? Is any of that connected to the ground in the second picture? Can you show what it looks like all together?

OMikeZ posted : Hey buddy, im in North County SD. Same shit is happening to me for the past couple years. Up until recently i've stopped trusting Cox and have come to the conclusion they are throttling. I pay for gigablast with unlimited internet for over a year. Same issues you are having, I am having as well. Pinged my default gateway and multiple ips such as google.com etc etc. "Request timed out" always tends to ruin those days you try to get the best out of the internet we pay top dollar for.
Restarted modem, bought a new modem, dnsrefresh all of that stuff. Changed my DNS multiple times. Some days it works great, most days this ends up happening. Pretty lame if you ask me. I'd say someone in their staff is a fucking moron and may be doing this intentionally. Planning on relocating and taking my business elsewhere more stable. Cox cable, more like Hoax cable. Would love to follow up with you if you figure anything out.
I'd like to mention I connected my coax from the telephone pole directly through my roof to my cable modem (4th modem at this point). Had their Coax 3.0 Cable modem, upgraded to a netgear 3.0 modem. Then they released the "Gigablast" for that wannabe fiberoptic internet they've used as a sales pitch to trick customers (at least i feel as if thats so) to have everyone upgrade to the panoramic modem 3.1 Coax cable for that lightning fast speed! That didn't end up working more than a year ago. Went to best buy and bought a Coax 3.1 Netgear modem that was over 200$ and everything worked great for about a week then same thing again. Shall i mention they never replaced any coax cable as well from 3.0 to their "new" 3.1? Constantly getting timed out and lagging. Unstable, etc etc. Shits getting old. Hope this gives insight to anyone looking for answers. Btw, these are just my personal experiences, im not pressing this on anyone else. Just looking for hope. Personally, i've lost it with this ISP and AT&T as well. At least in this area. Cheers and good lucks everyone dealing with the same thing.

Dirty Steve posted : At my house it's just a ground block screwed to the backside of the facia board. The coax comes from the telephone pole, and is secured to the front of the facia board, and loops underneath it to the backside, screws into the ground block. Then another coax cable goes from the ground block into my attic (and to the modem location inside the house).

If I ever had problems, I would go out to that ground block, connect the modem directly to that ground block with a short piece of coax.
