I have an asus ac66u b1, not sure if that’s sufficient What's your budget like? I would maybe look in Tri-Band Router. Wirless AX is new technology but not many have support for it. At minimum I would go with a Tri-Band Router. |

Maybe $200-$300. Already spent $150 on the sb8200 so I’d like to not spend too much on the router honestly |

Question, I was trying to set up the appointment on the website and it does not allow me to choose my own modem. The only option for internet equipment is an Altice Gateway.
I'm assuming after install I can just swap modems as normal and return whatever Altice brought over? I ask because when trying to do the Optimum 500 it allows me to choose "Use my own Modem & Wifi Router" but not for the 1G option. |

Correct, people mentioned first get installed then wait few days and swap but never return as speed might drop fom gig to 400. |

But I thought if I don’t return the modem I’d be charged the modem fee? |

As long as you swap with your own modem and it isn’t connected and activated with network, you will not be charged. |
