DrTCP posted : Yes, bridge alone will not be sufficient. You need wireless repeater function which can be satisfied by using AP and Ethernet Converter (Linksys/Orinoco) in combination.

Linksys WAP11v1 AP can also be configured to be client to another AP. I am not sure if this would help solve your problem (i.e. provide AP function while connection to another AP as client). It may be worth looking at.
--
Austinites! The ME102(1) acting as a bridge would connect the MR314 by MAC and the ME102(2)/AP by MAC. The ME102(2) would then function as an AP for the MA401.

I think this would work...
Clangeddin posted : Thanks, Dreamer.

Yes. Essentially what I am looking for is a wireless hub/repeater. I'll take a look at the WET11.

What I have decided to do in the interim is run cabling outside, following my cable line (which hopefully wont cause to much interference) around to the living room and set the ME102 up there. Plus I'm not sure if both ends have to be set for bridging or not....if so, it would preclude the MR314 as bridging, since I don't recall seeing that option.

What I wonder is if the solution is something like the Linksys WET11.

Actually, I'm guessing what your asking for is a repeater....so in the two radios makes a (cross-band/channel) repeater concept, you need to have something like a WET11 and an AP (ME102 or WAP11). The WET11 linked to the MR314, and the AP on a different channel for when the MA401 is outside the reach of the MR314.

Something like:

MA401 or --------------------
|                    |
|       WET11------MR314====DSL
|        ||
--------ME102

double lines hardwired, single lines wireless

The WET11 would more solve my situation where I have the MR314, my notebook with MA401...but someday might want to put my home entertainment system in the living room online without running a cable across my apartment.

The Dreamer.
--
You may be a dreamer, but I'm The Dreamer, the definite article you might say!

Clangeddin posted : The newest firmware has bridging.
Clangeddin posted : Ok, I looked around to see if anyone has previously had this problem and didn't see any posts, so here goes...

I have been using a MR314 and a MA401 in my laptop for several months without any problems. To extend the range of my MA401 I purchased an ME102. Then the fun started.

I can't seem to get the MR314 and the ME102 to talk. I upgraded to the most recent rom files on both and still no go. I don't have WEP running, only a modified SSID (as in not WIRELESS). I usually have the MAC Access Filter on, but have turned that off for this problem.

I run a standard network with no subnetting - 192.168.0.1 on the router and DHCP to the MA401 (192.168.0.10). I ran the USB Manager software and set the ME102 up with an IP of 192.168.0.5. All are on the same channel (10).

The thing is, when the ME102 is plugged in, the MA401 connects with it (I get a strong green signal), but then the MA401 will not see the router (can't ping it, won't register an IP, no internet access).

Is there something obvious that I am missing? I am pretty good at networking, but wireless is pretty new to me. After three days working on this it has got me stumped. Any help is appreciated...
