Re: Under what circumstances do I really need Gigabit?I think some posters are conflating speeds within their LAN with their ISP WAN speeds. Yes it is good to have a gigabit LAN network setup at home. But your pipe out to the WAN does not need to be that big. Sure you may be able to peg a speed test out to it's limit, but in real world use a server isn't gonna give you that much bandwidth for downloads. I think the 200 or 300 tier is an awesome price for the speed you get. If you are internet only it should be easy to adjust your plan and test for a month. |
