Re: [Appliances] Replace range door glass with stainless?

Is it just a decorative range or is it being used for cooking?
Last time I checked you couldn't see through a stainless steel sheet. Stay with glass. Aside from insulating, you can see the food without opening the door.
Opening the door often may ruin whatever you are cooking. Dough is especially sensitive to opening the door.

Funny, we used to have friends with a basement kitchen, and their first-floor kitchen was just for show. They had Tupperware stored in the oven and the breaker was shut off.

But to answer your question, yes, I use it for cooking, not so much in the summer. Can't say I've ever made a souffle. Bread, well, that would be limited to pizza crust, maybe Crescent rolls, or that garlic bread that comes in a foil package! There ain't no chef in my kitchen.

Maybe you can but I can't. I don't think I've ever had a range or microwave windows where I could glean any info besides, "Is there something in there?" 30+ years of dusty cobwebs between the window and the front panel, and it's too low for me to look thru without bending uncomfortably, so I open the door anyway when I need to see how brown the brown 'n serve rolls are.

On the other hand, maybe when I do my exploratory surgery, I will clean that glass and see how much difference it makes. You may yet be vindicated.

have you checked whether Caloric ever made a stainless steel version of this particular range

That's worth checking into. Every time I have looked up this model # on the online parts sites, I get no results. But I've so far not had a problem finding parts based on specs.

Thanks for the comments.
