chasegrn posted : I had this issue with my grandmother's comcast phone line a while back. After getting nowhere with normal support, and a tech visit which only replaced the cable drop, I resorted to filing an FCC complaint on her behalf. At her age, I didn't want her to have to call 911 and experience the issue your parents did.

After the FCC complaint, I got a call from their corporate team. The person assigned to the case seemed to be able to do more things than any of the phone reps. He said he was able to see an "alarming" amount of T3 timeouts from her modem and several more people in the neighborhood. He sent out a senior tech who cleared the house of any wiring issues. The tech and I both agreed that because Comcast's voice is VOIP, it could be packet loss from noise in the plant causing it, so he made a ticket for plant maintenance to check out the node. Within a week, the issue went away, and to my knowledge, it has not returned.

My advice to you - given that the issue has been happening for a while, and especially since it gave you issues when calling 911, you probably should file an FCC complaint at »consumercomplaints.fcc.g ··· hc/en-us

You'll want to be sure to put your account number on the form so they can quickly pull up your account. Be sure to mention they had the issue when calling 911, that alone should hopefully get someone to contact you rather quickly.

Good luck.

Issue with Comcast Home Phone Service

clocks11 posted : For probably a year or two, my parents have had an issue with their comcast phone line. Sometimes when they call someone, the person can hear them, but they cannot hear the other person. It is mostly/only for the first 5-7 seconds of the call or so, then everything functions normally. This issue is intermittent, and from my initial searches, fairly widespread with comcasts phone system. It has always been a headache, but is more of a problem now since they even had issues on a recent 911 call.

They have tried calling comcast for support, which usually just resets their modem, or sends them a new one, but the issue remains. Is anyone familiar with this issue, and if so, have you found a remedy? I have been talking about moving them to Ooma for years, and if we can get this resolved in the next week or so, will likely go that route.
