Re: [TV] R120 update.said by DeeBee:Last night we had a number of issues while watching the DVR. We got this error "Sorry, an error occurred. Please chnage channels to try again. 4-44-830". Twice the STB stopped responding after using the 30 second FF button to get past commercials. One of those times the STB wouldn't even respond to the Settings > System > Restart System button. A physical reboot was required. On the bright side, performance after the reboot was acceptable for the rest of the evening Had same issues last night. |

While I don’t like others having problems, I am glad we are not alone with the 830 error. We also have the box stop responding for extended periods of time. I called in the 830 issue …. For us it happens mostly watching one particular show (London 6pm news on 132) but it has happened on another channel. |
|
| |
The odd thing is that 4-44-830 is a network connection error. We are pushing to see the app handle local network issues more gracefully. |

I can ditto Muskie3 experience with London news on ch. 132. It is a common occurance on that channel compared to others. |

Yep, happens daily for me on ch 132 on at the 6 o'clock news. I also notice on ch 132 that when I go back and watch Seinfeld at 2pm it has a black screen with no audio. I switch to another CTV2 channel and no issue. Something is wrong with ch 132, which is funny for the local London channel. |

dmbcanada... I know you mentioned your STB was connected using WiFi, gojets, muskies, and classicaldog... are your STB also on WiFi? N |

I see the same thing on Ch 132 during the 6 pm news when I restart while the program is in progress. This happens using the hard wired STB |

Could be another error that is being reported incorrectly….seems odd people are seeing it more often on one a particular channel during the same time period. |

Yes, this definitely sounds more like a transcoding or source feed issue more than something in the DCM or app itself. I'll have one of our engineers check the profiles and the logs to see if we can see something there. And I guess I'm watching the local news at 6pm tonight. I'm more of an 11pm news guy myself so curious to see if it happens then too. |

Start STB on Ethernet over powerline, Google TV on WiFi from a local router connected over powerline. |

Just an FYI for reporting purposes. Changing to London news (ch. 132) at 5:59 today and got the black screen with spinning wheel with channel never coming in. The odd thing this time was that even when trying to change to different channel the same behaviour occurred for all channels I tried. Ended up force stopping app and re-launching the Start TV app to get to the channels back up and running. |

We've pinned that down. Fixed in 120.12 app, which should be available soon. You don't need to force stop app...just wait 45 seconds or so and try again. It only happens in the first few seconds when a new program starts. |

Just turned on the TV in the bedroom and all channels weren't working. The green start logo felt like it was showing longer than usual, and then eventually I get the usual initial screen and guide, but all channels black. Even force stopping the app and clearing cache doesn't fix it, I've had to reboot the box by pulling the power. I've had to do this full power cycle several times for the STB. My Sony TV with built in Android works much better, but I still had to fully power cycle it once a few weeks ago just to get the app working. But definitely the STB struggles badly. I only watch TV for an hour every night, and it's rarely smooth process.
What's going wrong here? I have to think this is highly reproducible for the devs. Is there some sort of authentication/verification issue where the box gets lost when it's changing channels?
EDIT: should note I powered on the TV at 10:10pm, so it wasn't at the time of a new program starting. Although I had anecdotally noticed that if a channel fails to load while I am watching, it did tend to be when a new program was starting. And yes, eventually it would work (although not ideal to miss the first 1-2 mins) |

I’m wondering about the apple tv app as well. Also the r120 update has not shown up for the fire stick |

FYI, we had the 830 error watching 354 last night. Is there any point in continuing reporting these, or anything we can do to help. I did as per support run the Start Care network scan on a number of these, but didn’t call in to say I ran them. Seems debug code, or something on the STB is what would really help. |

Has that update been pushed out?
I keep getting the spinner on black when changing channels, waiting 40 seconds or longer does not resolve it, I have to force stop the app, clear the cache and restart the app to get around it.
Wow, last nights news actually had real local news rather than a ton of CTV network sausage filler. |

Last night while using DVR, on many occasions while watching programming and using FF, the audio and video would become un-synched. Many times a pause for a few seconds, then play would resolve, sometime had to back out to DVR menu showing all recorded programs and select RESUME to fix. Sometime when selecting RESUME, the DVR forgot where it was in the program and started it from the beginning. Force Stopping the app would help for a bit but not long. I even tried unplugging the power on the STB and doing a cold restart, that didn't help much either. It was definitely a frustrating night of TV. |

I was watching something on the DVR last night, I dozed off and tried to rewind, then got 4-44-001 on every single thing I had recorded. A frustrating tv night is putting it mildly. |
