Cube posted : Well maybe with the Media changes it'll be a change. I swear I've Heard of the idea that MMwave will eventually work as backhaul to Your Neighborhood boxes where the fiber then goes into the homes. That could be something to keep an eye on. It may not provide Every home Gigabit, but would help get more widespread HSI in non FTTH areas.

But that's years away. The other is a bigger focus on the traditional FTTH build out. But it's a tough sell given the debt from the FCC auctions that they need to spend big on. I'm in an area that absolutely needs ATT to build out Fiber as Suddenlink and TMobile home internet are the only realistic internet options. And that's a very small area for the TMobile option.

They're doing shitty RFoG for this? WTF. I'm sure those 300 homes in the NY/NJ area that will actually have the option will be disappointed.

RFoG may not be the whole story here; he's the CEO and probably doesn't know the real difference between PON, GPON, EPON, and RFoG. I would hope they aren't jumping on the hype train that DOCSIS will ever really support 10Gbps.

Maybe someday but they really need to fix plant, CMTS, and Node issues before even beginning to talk about customer cable modems.

I don't understand why they don't run some type of dual stack. In my area HFC and Fiber customers all go to the same office or plant. Obviously those with RFoG and Fiber have a PON network all the way back to the plant so why not split it off there and offer a different product. When the HFC neighborhoods get upgraded migrate them over.

Just my 2cents but all of this is nothing but hype and BS to keep share holders from bailing. If they were really serious there would be movement in neighborhoods and products changing not an an overpaid CEO making grandiose declarations that will never actually happen.

I have more faith in AT&T doing some real fiber builds than Altice pulling their heads out of their rectums. At least AT&T is selling off media crap, that they should never have bought, to fund being a Telecom company. No fiber expansion yet but selling off assets to reduce debt is something towards a real goal.
