Re: Great American Country no longer on FiOS

I watch that channel a lot. I am sad. I hope that they will come to an agreement. I thought it was owned by the Discovery group.

They are in the process of selling it to a group that is also purchasing RideTV. My guess is the new group did not capitulate to Verizon, which frankly is their loss. You cannot survive as a linear cable network and be off platforms.

I just found out about the sale. The programs that I watch on it are on my discovery + app, so, in actuality, it is no big deal.

Maybe their plan is to get distribution for those two channels on free streaming platforms like Pluto TV, Xumo, The Roku Channel, etc. and just rely on ad revenue. Honestly, I can't see many cable TV systems paying to carry them. Maybe in rural western states?

The point is Discovery doesn’t want or need cable/etc tv networks. Their app is the replacement and they’ve stated that.

And their app needs a ton of work. Like start over. It’s the worst app I’ve ever tried and there are plenty of bad ones.

I've had Verizon for years now and it annoying how they keep removing channels with shows I enjoy while at the same time my bill just keeps getting higher and higher. No discounts or refunds.👎

Well they added stadium college sports so not like they only delete channels. GAC prolly got greedy and asked for too much license fees for a channel with little viewer ship. The cable boxes can track viewership you know.
