Re: Videotron to Expand Wireless Services Nationwide

said by StEC:

I think this is HUGE news, and should hopefully drive more competitive pricing with all the wireless carriers! I wonder if they will scoop up Freedom mobile as well as part of the Rogers/Shaw merger if Freedom must be divested?

Break the monopoly? I find that laughable. Videotron has at times acted worse than Bell/Roger/Telus.

Does anyone remember the $7 per gig overage fees they once charged?

i was a videotron tv/internet client - speeds were low due to the net package i had; i switched to teksavvy i think for the same base price - but videotron's overages meant i was paying minimum double base price monthly.

teksavvy gave me enough traffic to avoid overages, the same base price, the same (low) speed, but on dsl.

eventually i got rid of tv cable.

i take it the person who stated "foreign country" was being sardonic. quebec has not been its own country despite the separatists' best attempts years back at rigging the referendum.

if they achieve a national level, or at least significance presence in the major cities across canada, their pricing structure will be as poor as the other telcos.

their net lost their original 1gb download speeds; no idea what the hell helix is about - evidently their sub brand fizz which offers both cell and net service operates thru cell signals exclusively ?

they won't have a national presence for a very long time. don't look to the peladeaus to be sensible and offer lower pricing.
