Re: China upholds Canadian's death sentence as Huawei case looms

This would be so much easier to opine on if we knew for a matter of fact that Robert Schellenberg was indeed guilty but it's open to interpretation.

If you were to opine based on his life story it certainly seems like he's guilty considering that he's had eleven convictions for drug & DUI charges and jail time... for selling drugs. It's hard to take that into consideration and treat this guy like an innocent tourist who was coincidentally used as a patsy for a drug deal gone wrong.

China putting a previously convicted drug dealer to death for allegedly dealing drugs is not tugging on my heart strings.

The other two I don't know enough about them to comment.

Based on the fact that our authorities are very loud in protesting their treatment, but not nearly as loud in professing their innocence, you can read between the lines...

For me, I lose no sleep over him being convicted, and sentenced to a lengthy prison term. What bothers me is that his sentence was arbitrarily changed from prison to death after the dispute over Meng Wenzhou had begun. That’s just state-sanctioned murder.

It's my understanding that China is angry at one of the Michaels for helping the west get friendlier with North Korea, to me that's worthy of expulsion or a jail sentence but not necessarily death

Nonsense.
