those shutters look like they'll do the job! you may want to tie down/garage some of those projectiles on the patio for the next round.

Our garage door has extra bracing on the inside of the panels, two per panel with full width of the door to meet the code.

I don't see how a lock alone is going resist the force of hurricane force winds. A 100 mph wind exerts a force of 25.6 lbs per sq ft. With a double garage door this adds up to a force of over 4,000 lbs on the door. Even if the lock holds the garage door would probably buckle in the middle.

i prefer putting sliding aluminum shutters inside. that way they can also protect your home year round instead of just when hurricanes arrive.

Pher9999 posted : First hurricane in our new house, it came with hurricane shutters. Overall not too bad to install, since the mounting bolts were already in the brick. It was just a matter of figuring out which set went to which window. We didn't cover the back door as my sister-in-law and her dogs were staying with us, and needed to let them out at times to do their business. Overall it did well, the storm passed east of us, but better safe than sorry. We're just north of Gulfport, MS.
