CVGNet posted : 1Gbps / 500 Mbps & 1Gbps / 250 Mbps are different products so if you really want to move from the latter to the former and have a promotional rate on your current package you may want to check any impact on your promotion.

If you check in your online account it may show upgrade possibilities. e.g. the price difference for an account on the 1 Gbps / 250 Mbps $69/month for 3 years promo was roughly $10/month more to change to the 1 Gbps / 500 Mbps product while keeping the promo end date.
CVGNet posted : It would be helpful to know which IP block you are in. I don't need the last part - just the A.B.C of the full A.B.C.D would be good for now. At least then we can see if anybody else having issues is in the same block.

Btw - I was not saying that all these speedtest.net servers are only 1 Gbps - though some clearly are. What is a bit annoying is that the servers themselves don't show their available bandwidth which leads to a guessing.

CVGNet posted : A couple of things to know for the technical folks out there.....

1. While there are certainly some core locations on the CBT network with most external traffic passing through at least one of them it is also worth considering that IP numbers allocated to customers tend to be in different allocation blocks across different parts of the tri-state region. That is significant because Cincinnati itself is not a major peering location. Most external traffic reaches CBT customers inbound via one of several peering locations such as Chicago, IL, Ashburn, VA etc. . CBT has dedicated circuits to these locations. It is *possible* that two CBT customers accessing the same external resource will have their inbound traffic from the resource routed via different peering cities based on the CBT customers using IP numbers from different IP ranges and routing decisions made by the resource and/or their upstream provider(s). That can make some problems difficult to detect without good information about the resource being accessed and the IP range being used to access it.

2) When you allow speedtest.net to auto pick the server it *actually* uses multiple servers for the test based on latency but shows the name of the "best" server it detected. When you pick a specific server *only that server is used* and some of those servers only have 1 Gbps connections or even less in some cases.

There have been a few comments about Florence but not enough details to see any pattern as yet so if anybody wants to PM me more detailed info I'll see if we can gather enough info to point at a possible common element

Wiggles45 posted : Have you tried getting your ONT replaced?
The reason I say that is because it just seems odd that some locations are working better than others. All of these locations probably go to a central location into cincinnati and then out from there, so it odd you are getting these inconsistent results. Also is it the same computer across all these locations? Could potentially be some sort of software side issue? Are you using the windows app when running these tests too or is it through a browser?
