There's no old system, they have been placing RT's left and right here in Dallas. 1 last time it shortens the copper loop nothing new or old. Why would they contact you? theres no upgrade here, th RT was placed sounds to me by your cap you a ways away from the CO so now they can reach the customer's past you and so on. Now if they called everyone lets say you and everyone else that was getting DSL feed out of the CO and switched you to the RT used up all the facilities, what about the new customers beyond you, SBC could not reach them before and offer them DSL. Now they can but those consumers are still without a DSL option cause of no facilities.
From a business model (Just mine not SBC's) this would make sense to me. You invest 300k or so, on new facilities so now you can reach new DSL customers where before you could not. Would you go after new revenue first or use up the facilities on a existing customer to get back your return? Now the fight about CO feed and RT feed is BS, I will say it once more theres no difference in CO or RT equipment they come off the same Alcatel production line. Now your going to bring up yeah but I have DSL why shouldnt I get the upgrade first I am already a paying customer. The answer theres no upgrade here, theres no given once you switch to a RT your going to be faster.
People have said alot of falsehoods here about RT's vs CO's without knowing the facts or just guessing, my guess yes you will be faster on a RT due to the copper loop length, but thats the only reason why. The cards are the same from RT vs CO if they differ and one was better than the other then there would be a upgrade but thats not the case here. Here you can read for yourself and ask Alcatel if theres a difference between CO fitted or RT fitted Litespans.
