AT&T said they can't cancel service immediately. It would be at the end of my billing cycle. Is that true? What if I were moving out of the house tomorrow and someone new moved in. They wouldn't be able to get service until next month!? 
It takes a day or so for their systems to update. If you cancel today, bring back your equipment to UPS or however they want you to return the equipment and then sign up online tomorrow using a different name it should all be no problem at all. Of course you'll be without internet for a few days, so it is the question if the $350 is worth it.
