My Drive is 21% full, perhaps 25 shows. I will give it some time and see. One other question, if I had signal problems would I be seeing pixilation or freezing during live tv?

Yes,

If live TV is pixilating than the signals or the line itself would be a problem. Now if it is DVR playback that can be hard to say, because if the pixilating occurred during a live recording and you are not playing back the show (but you are watching the show as it is being recorded and you see pixilation that could be signal related.

But let's say that you are watching TV live and no pixilation. You play back the show you just watched live and it is now pixilating when it was fine live, you know you have a bad box than.

I hope this makes sense! One thing though, they have to check your wiring and drop lne on a service call, because if it is a signal issue, a box swap won't change anything. They have to update wiring and your line to correct that.

The general rule is:

Watching a live TV show and pixilation: signal or line related
Playback of a show that did not pixilate live but is pixilating on playback: DVR box issue.

Obviously if you recorded something when the TV was off and play it back, you won't know if the pixilation occurred during the recording or not. With the knowledge above, test some recordings and see what happens. Sometimes maintenance at night can cause pixilation, but you want to look for patterns of problematic behavior to narrow things down.

For now I would say, run some tests and put your box on watch. Oh yea, how is On Demand working? If that is slow or unresponsive, that is one of the first signs of a signal problem. Any other services like phone or Internet dropping regularly can also indicate a signal issue.

Satch

If it's only pixilation and no clicking, that is often a signal or drop line issue. Some drives will have mild clicking as they search for and change data. The box could be starting to die. You might also have a lot of shows saved.

Do you have a ton of shows on your DVR? This makes the box work harder. You can try to start watching and deleting some shows afterword to see if this reduces the clicking.

Not a problem to get your signals and drop line checked if you choose to have Spectrum come out. Be advised though that if they replace the box, (World Box- No Clock or box with clock) that it will most likely have new Spectrum Guide on it instead of ODN.

Satch

psternklar posted : Have a Cisco 9865 (6 tuner). I have noticed glitches on recording where the show will freeze on playback. I have to FF past that section to watch. Not a problem on live programming. Is the drive on the box going bad or something else? Thanks. I do not want to give up this box unless necessary.
