Vchat20 posted : Element branded TV's are bottom barrel with a minimum of menu options. At $65 for a 2017 model, it's probably not much less than it cost new.

Looking at the manual, it looks like the native panel res is 1920x1080 which is good and looks like what you've already tried.

You're probably not going to get very far with this set. Try all the options you can, but it may be that it's only going to do a pixel-for-pixel display on the VGA input. I have a smaller 32" Element TV just as a spare. I've tried and failed to get a decent picture from a PC.

cenari posted : I bought it at a yard sale for $65 and figured it was a good deal for a TV of this size so theres no returning it. It was in excellent condition and looked pretty much brand new to me. I just didn't look it up before buying because as I said above I don't buy new displays for my computer that often so its not something that crosses my mind usually until after I buy it. When I looked it up and saw it was a 2017 model TV I figured it would have some kind of mode or way I could set it to a game mode but as of right now I don't know if it does. Its an HDTV so I'm hoping there is some way I can adjusts the settings to make it look as good as my other TV but after messing with them for awhile I gave up. I'm hoping someone more familiar with Element TVs can give some suggestions.

cenari posted : So after checking the Element TV's manual it looks like a VGA cable connection from the PC to the TV is required to access the setting in the TV menu that lets me adjusts PC settings. I don't know why this isn't available for an HDMI connection. It seems this option only appears in the TV menu when the TV is connected to the PC by a VGA cable. I'm guessing if I want the display to resemble any kind of possible "game mode" I'm going to need to use the VGA port on the TV. The problem is my graphics card only has HDMI ports so I would have to buy an adapter of some kind. At this point I feel like just using the TV as a second monitor to just watch movies on. Its often years in-between me buying a new display for my computer so I forget to check the TVs for PC/Game modes. I've tried messing around with various settings with the HDMI connected to it but honestly I don't know if I can get it to look like my other TV does when its in Game Mode. So I'll just use my other TV for now until it stops working and hopefully remember to check for PC/Game Mode options on my next TV purchase, or just go with a PC monitor.

If anyone by chance does know something I can try using the HDMI connection to the Element TV let me know here and I will check back from time to time just in case.

cenari posted : I think its a resolution problem. The resolution in my NVIDIA Control Panel is set to 1080p, 1920x1080 (native). I have the "Use NVIDIA Color Settings option selected under that with Desktop Color Depth set to Highest 32 Bit, Output Color Depth 8 bpc, Output color format: YCbCr444, Output dynamic range: Limited.

For the TV settings using its own menu I have the picture set to User and everything is on default except for sharpness which I tried lowering to 20 which seemed to help a bit but I can still tell there is some kind of resolution issue going on. Is it just because its a 40" TV? I have it on my desk about 3 feet away. Whats strange though is my other TV is just a bit smaller and the game mode smooths everything out automatically. I'm hoping to achieve the same picture quality on this new TV.

Also I forgot to mention that I know when I say "game mode" people may assume I'm referring to improving input lag but for me on my Toshiba TV when I switched it to game mode it made the picture look better for everything. Another words it looked more like a PC monitor display than a typical TV display. That is what I am trying to achieve on my Element TV.

cenari posted : I recently purchased an Element 40" ELFW4017 that I want to use as my main monitor for my PC. I was using a Toshiba TV before which had a game mode that I could simply select in the menu and the display showed everything perfectly. The problem with my Element TV is that it doesn't seem to have a game mode like my Toshiba TV has. I've tried setting the zoom to "just scan" which helped show the display properly within the borders of the TV but the picture quality itself still seems to be a bit fuzzy. Its not as clear as the game mode option on my other TV which is what I am hoping to achieve on this one. I went into my NVIDIA Control Panel and tried a few suggestions I found online but none of them helped. I even went into the extra options menu using the remote but didn't see anything there that looked like I could change to help either. I'm connected to the TV from my PC with an HDMI cable. If anyone has any suggestions or knows what the problem is I would greatly appreciate any information!

My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Super
Processor is AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8 Core
OS: Windows 10 Home

If you need anymore information let me know.
