Here in Roxbury we don't have any developments that are that large. They range from 30 (where I live) to 300+ (poets Peak).

Based on that I don't think Altice will pull fiber for them.

They did leave some spools outside Poets Peak from what I saw last week when they wired Mooney Mountain. I don't think they've started digging anywhere yet, though.

It's common for fiber makers like Corning to print the customer name on the cable jacket if the order is big enough. I've see Verizon, ATT, Comcast, Adelphia, Charter, etc printed on cables before. Altice isn't making their own fiber.

My drop is 3 pre-terminated pieces - one from apt to nearest pole with a little connector box, one from there to about 3/4 across a main street with a connector hanging from optimum's coax, and then about 20 feet to the connector with a coil of leftover slack...

Exactly. Most of these Verizon techs take whatever drop they have on their truck gets the closest length then wrap as much slack as they can in the ONT box and at the pole.

I also doubt that any of them carry fusion or mechanical splicing equipment To re-terminate those drops

Still dirty connectors are much more common than dirty splices. Hard to get dirt in glass already fused together. Dirty splices fail the machines test and only exist after if the splicer is lazy.

Same with many drop or distribution problems. The 1 hour service call time frames popular with many of the big providers tend to get them scheduled out for another tech once discovered. Clearly anyone doing fiber drop installations for Altice has the right tools to begin with, otherwise the installation doesn't get done.

Dirty optical connectors happen much more often. Fiber splice machines tend to do an automated pass/fail grade on the splice these days.

Really how often are the PDOs getting damaged and need to be replaced? If they get damaged a splicer has to do it anyway even if it were a OptiTap style unit as only the drop side is pre-connectorized. How often are the drops getting replaced? Verizon has run into problems dealing with drop slack and needs to cut and splice many of their drops to deal with it, usually at the house end. How many different sizes do they have to stock on trucks? 50' increments from 50' to 1000'? Even then 50' of slack is a pain to deal with, so they're frequently cut and spliced. Same with ATT but they use mechanical splice connectors. So it's not like those pre-connectorized drops are really saving them much if anything.

You're over thinking the problems to make them worse than they actually are.
