Re: [Internet] Bypassing the HH3K up to 2.5Gbps using a BCM57810S NIC

That's messed up. Thanks for the steps, will try 22.1 again then.

Turns out that was a very bad idea.

Something is really messed up with 22.1 and my hardware.

I speedtest as expected on Opnsense (1260/900) but for some reason my downloads on the NAT side are like 200kb/sec.

If I use advanced DMZ on the HH3000 through to Opnsense then I seem to get expected speeds (940/940).

So it must be either something to do with the bxe module (unmodded gives same results) OR maybe it is the fact that the WAN is a VLAN. Either way it is unusable.... :-/

The Opnsense team helped troubleshoot this.

The problem was that hardware offloading settings cannot be applied to VLAN interfaces and the defaults (everything turned off) are not applied until you assign (and enable) an interface. So I needed to assign bxe0 to a useless interface and that made the proper hardware offloading settings apply to bxe0 - which in turn made my VLAN35 interface work as expected.

You may want to upgrade to the full release it came out yesterday...

I am going to hold off - have too much stuff going on in life right now.

I guess there is a possibility that Opnsense 22.1 is the cause for the slow upload too. It is a beta after all.. :-/

It is stable, I patched my own in FreeBSD 13 with the patch you provided. It connects at 2.5 and holds the connect as far as I can tell. speed test comes in at 1700/640 which is strange.

Does anyone have a list of Bell Canada Speedtest servers ?

I am running 22.1 with a FreeBSD13 patched driver. system is up and running. However upload has dropped from 940mbs to 680-729mbs.

Trying to figure out what is driving the change.

Hmmm…Did you try both the if_bxe.ko files I posted? I don’t really know whether there are different versions of the patch. I just grabbed the one from the discord. Might be better ones out there that should be used instead.

Is it at least stable?
