I run the ASUS X89X at home, the wan port is 1/2.5/5/10 capable and works with the 5G on the 320, then use a generic sfp+ DAC to feed a Mikrotik CRS312-4C+8XG-RM which I use to feed my 2.5+G devices, then switch to switch with another sfp+ DAC to feed a Mikrotik CSS326-24G-2S+RM for 1G and lower. Currently 1.2G down and 900M up on my desktop out of my 1G connection, still need to call in and upgrade to 5G and test it.

I'm not dealing with anything fancy -- Netgear GC728X in my garage to a MikroTik CRS305-1G-4S+IN switch in my office.

Even in a 74* house that little MikroTik switch runs hot. If anyone else wants to cool it down a 120mm fan fits on top perfectly. For power I found a USB to 3/4pin fan header adapter and keep it plugged in to my UPS.

I can confirm the Asus RT-AX89X works! The router is straight out of the box, I have the RG plugged into the RJ45 10Gb WAN port, and my desktop is plugged into the 10Gb LAN port with a DAC.

Test 1 - 4630 / 4733 @ 1ms.
Test 2 - 4678 / 4741 @ 2ms.
Test 3 - 4596 / 4739 @ 1ms.

This router is big. About 14" across and 6" tall. It has a fan that -- out of the box -- is barely audible. Moving from a Synology RT-AC2600, which I'm going to miss dearly, it'll take time getting used to the Asus config again.

As for the DAC -- 10Gtek part# CAB-10GSFP-P1M-30. Its $19 on Amazon.

That is just what I wanted to hear. There is a bonus to using this router because of the powerful cpu, and it supports aes-ni.
