I managed to fix this issue.

The solution? Activate the gateway again.

So it seems if you have issues with xFi not working or showing up as the wrong model in my account activate the gateway again to fix the problems.

After I activated the gateway again the model updated correctly and the picture is back.

Turned on by itself? I had 3 different SSIDs and didn’t touch the gateway settings until I notice my 5 and 6 SSIDs weren’t broadcasting. Basically the XB8 ignores my separate SSID names for 5 and 6 and just combines them all under the 2.4 name.

Happened twice to me already. How can I turn off Band Steering?

Yeah, Previously it had the correct image and said CGM4981COM

After I returned my XB7 and it dropped of my account it updated to CGM498COM and the picture is gone.

I guess some glitch.

AFIK i can tell it's the exact same.

Also, I see no point in keeping the power cord as it doesn't look like a normal DC barrel connector to use with another device.

Xfinity rewards seems badly run. Some people are still waiting for a bluetooth speaker they gave away back in December.

There is also a free movie right now that if you click on it gives you the movie + a 12.99 credit.

Lets not forget there’s still a supply chain issue to contend with so it’s entirely possible Comcast underestimated the number of claims they were going to receive when they initially ordered from their suppliers.

While true, I would have thought the rewards fulfilment team would operate on a first come, first served basis. Seems to me that my claim was never properly accounted for.

The XB7 has been the most stable piece of comm equipment I've ever used. The amount of times I've had to power-cycle it can be counted on one hand. The same I cannot say of my previous personal devices. Sorry you had bad luck.

According to Intel, the 6ghz band requires support from the OS vendor that is only available in Windows 11. Although I've seen some aparently hacked drivers floating around for Windows 10, but Intel says 6ghz is only supported on Windows 11.

No, it just says "2.4 and 5 Ghz WiFi" under advanced settings. It does show all three bands on the previous page, though. I think you just have to login to the gateway directly to change the 6 GHz settings until the app gets updated.

Do you see the 6 GHz band listed and enabled here in your gateway settings? I've got the bands broadcasting 3 separate SSIDs.

Also, be sure your network card is capable of Wi-Fi 6E specifically, not just Wi-Fi 6 - some people get this confused.

SB posted : I managed to get an Intel AX210 wireless card working. For anyone having trouble seeing their 6 Ghz broadcast on Windows, I actually needed to update my OS to see it listed. I went from Windows 10 21H1 to Windows 11 21H2.

Typical 6 Ghz Wi-Fi 6E wireless results so far from Speedtest:
9-11 ms ping
850-950 Mbps download
42 Mbps upload

That's with two walls and a bathroom between my laptop and the gateway. Definitely an improvement, typically got 600-650 Mbps download speeds on AX from the same location.

One gripe: I would say the roaming (?) with a combined SSID for all bands with the XB8 has not been a good result for me. Randomly getting assigned or kicked down to 802.11n. Separating them into 3 SSIDs has been fine.

Yeah it sure seems like it.

I think the main reason i got the XB8 was to move away from a possibly problematic Puma 7 modem onto a known good Broadcom chip. Puma 7 is supposed to be "OK" but I think it has unfixable issues and is a old chip now.

Hopefully we're done with puma going forward.
