mc5w posted : i switched from Sprint to T-Mobile this past December. I am still trying to figure out how to stop this telephone from reminding me to look for free WiFi around here - it senses WiFi nodes but it is too dumb to realize that ALL of these are encrypted and password protected. There is NO free WiFi here at my apartment building.

In fact, when Spectrum's technician set up my Internet modem I asked him to disable the WiFi capability. I prefer to use Ethernet cords which have more speed and actually secure against freeloaders.

Anyways, there is a way to place a telephone call but when looking up something whilst the call is in progress it is impossible to get back to the screen that allows me to hang up.

Also, T-Mobile has set the maximum available time that the telephone rings before cutting over to voicemail to 30 seconds. There are sometimes when I need 1 or 1.5 minutes to answer the blower. The 30 seconds is an old fashioned artifact from when Bell System told people to let the phone ring for 10 rings ( 30 seconds ) before hanging up. This was to conserve on ringing current to save on the number of motor-generator sets and the electric bill. My telephone does not need to conserve ringing current.

Pre merger I was on Sprint but switched to T-Mobile shortly afterwards. I demoed T-Mobile 12 years ago and coverage became spotty west of Elgin so I never switched back then. I regularly make the trek from north suburban Chicago to Dubuque and stream Amazon Music 100% of the trip and experience ZERO dropouts. Even if I leave I-90 or US20 coverage is rock solid. Truth be told there is a small area of USC roaming but they are a premier partner and I get 5G and LTE in their territory and no data cap. I'm happy.
