Re: What do you think of 1.37 ?

You're right -- setting "Block WAN Request to "enable" didn't do it. How do I implement your "down 'n dirty" fix?

Thanks -- AB3 1/10/01

Like it said above... just make up a NON EXISTENT (!) IP address (say, 192.168.1.93, or what ever - just don't do one that's in use or likely to get used by mistake), put it in the DMZ, enable DMZ by clicking the accept, done... I'm not sure whether DMZ works with DHCP (I already use static addressing, myself), check the help files, but if it does and you use it, don't make up an address over .100, since that's the DHCP range on a Linksys router. That's it... then go to the port scanner and see if it worked... good luck and good sailing!

It works. Just stay out of the DHCP range like you said.

I'm no expert by any measure, but if I were to guess, it works because the inbound requests are forwarded to a nonexistent computer. Which is why everything is returned as stealth or not there, because there is nothing there. I noticed on my logs before that all inbound requests were sent to my computer and Lan IP registered on the log. Now with this trick all inbound requests are sent to the dummy IP or at least registered that way.
