Re: Speaking out of curiosity..

why do you thing @home went bankrupt genius? Why did comcast lose money last 2 quarters since @home is gone

@Home went bankrupt because the Excite side of the business tanked. During the dot-com hey-day, Excite was so overvalued (it was just a search engine!) that it was able to buy @Home. Prior to this, @Home was actually making money (they had a near-monopoly on cable modem access, there is no excuse for them to lose money IMO). Once the dot-com bubble burst, more and more of the revenue from @Home was put into the Excite side of the business (a very foolish move). This drained significant operating resources away from the @Home side, eventually causing that to suffer so much that the entire company tanked.
As for Comcast losing money, try building a nationwide cable modem network in 2 months and see how money it costs you. Also, their buyout of AT&T Cable is going to negatively impact their finances at least for the short term.

Er, my memory on that may be mixed up but wasnt their a story how the guy who built the @home network was said to have sold the design plans to AT&T for the basis's of their network frame?
