AOL Alumni 1997-2001. I went from AOL to MSN, and within a week or so over to ATTBI. The straw came for me when my (then) primary machine was at the mercy of AOL 7.0. It was a Win95 233mhz system that ran 7.0 beta tests just fine. Then nearly every day, I got an illegal op from an internet protocol relating to AOL. When that crashed, I couldn't browse any webpages, etc. So then I had to restart my machine in order for AOL to work again. You don't know how frustrating it was to sign on just to check the news, only to get that message. That machine had been through two mobo's and enough reformats for me to do anything just for AOL.

My parents still use our AOL account. So they got their bill last month from their Discover card to find a $9.95 charge from AOL. My father called AOL and found out this charge was for enabling "multi-users to be logged on at the same time." Note we had never ordered their home networking plan either.

I must say though that I learned most of by computer stuff using AOL, but now I have opened my eyes to what else is out there. But just last week, I had to log back onto AOL for a second, and it seemed like any access number I tried, I got 28k connection speed.

it cant hurt the economy, because ppl will migrate elsewhere...thus more jobs needed at the company because of the increase of customers. Such as tech support, operators etc.

just move all the old ppl to AOL since like 70% dont know wtf a computer is:)

AOL is nothing more than the "internet" with TRAINING WHEELS for all the newbies that buy a crappy compaq at BestBuy or Circuit City.

I had a situation similar to that, when I was an AOL customer. Except, even after system restart, I was still unable to use the AOL browser to go to any sites.

AOL is soo crappy, no wonder why it's the #1 customer losing ISP.

Why would one go from AOL to MSN?... talk about a step sideways... from worst to almost worst.

AOL mail is pretty lame, M$N uses (not so)HOTMAIL... in that respect even worse... both leave you almost no real control beyond on or off... and both almost spontainesly generate SPAM.
