now even if he had said he saw the first plane hitting the first building on TV where is the lie since CNN had a clip of the fist plane on TV sept 11.
"BUSH: ... And, you know, I thought it was pilot error." Once the SECOND plane hit everyone knew it wasnt pilot error, the video from those firefighters on the street didnt show up until after both planes hit... said by dumwaldo: sorry but i still dont see where he says he saw the first PLANE hit, it looks like he said he saw the first building.
lol, the first building was hit by the first plane... otherwise it wouldnt be the first building... |

you know what, it already looks like a session of congress with people pushing political agendas. if nobody can present a direct quote that is documented as legitimate where the president mentions the first PLANE i see no reason to further involve myself in this discussion. i have stated my opinion above. its rediculous to me that i feel the need to explain to everybody that just because they saw something on TV doesnt mean the president already knew about it.
maybe i am sympathetic because i was in the city when it happened and i did not have a television at my disposal so i can relate to how someone might make a mistake in what building they saw hit or even not see any images for the first few hours while details where still sketchy. by the time i got home (and i got home INCREDIBLY quick that day) the news was showing footage of the first plane hitting the first tower so i really find no inconsistancies in the presidents statements. |

why is it that when anyone questions the 'real story' they get called a conspirator? isn't there a slight possibility that things didn't happen the way the media portrays them? so its possible that Osama bin laden conducted such an operation from his sorry ass cave somewhere in afghanistan? is there any other evidence besides those 569652048975 year old vids of him, when he suddenly gains/loses weight from video to video? who here speaks his language? the world was pretty quick to accept that it was all him, [took about 8 eight hours for most of us, me included] but then its like...hold up.. who is this guy?... i'm not trying to defend him either, he's probably one crazed mofo who did actually plan this thing out, but thats hard to believe, even harder to believe is that some people in power knew, or even *gasps* planned it, no, impossible, if thats ever proven, i'll move somewhere farrr from here.
anyway. has anyone seen the video of daniel pearl being decapitaded? now that is some messed up stuff, even worse its on the net, [even worse is the fact that i downloaded it], on this vid there are also some threats at the beginning, with perfect english translation, hmm. |

Because you're nit picking over someone who misspoke or was misquoted (tell me THAT never happens, even in so called "transcripts"). quote: has anyone seen the video of daniel pearl being decapitaded? now that is some messed up stuff, even worse its on the net, [even worse is the fact that i downloaded it], on this vid there are also some threats at the beginning, with perfect english translation, hmm.
Uh, you think many of those people don't speak perfect English? Most of them probably speak it better than we do. That's why they fit in so well after they're living here... And I repeat, what does ANY of this have to do with the original post? |

said by howie1253: The FBI and other government agencies receive literally hundreds of "possible terrorist activities" every year and there was NOTHING that could have been done to prevent the attacks of 9/11 short of shutting down our country altogether.
Did an FBI agent not warn department heads of suspicious characters trying to learn to fly planes, but not land them, weeks before the attacks? Just today.. Did the FBI not visit an Egyptian-American citizen just TWO DAYS after 9/11 and drilled him about 9/11 because his name happened to be Mohammed Atta? I don't wanna hear that shit. FBI failed America, and now they're finally moving their ass. |

I don't know if the tip the FBI received prior to 9-11 is any different then possibly the 100 or 1000 tips they receive every day. We learned to live our lives here in the US a certain way. That way has now changed. To sit here and blame others for what might have been or could have been if they responded differently is pointless.
If mistakes were made, I'm sure they are being addressed internally. I have no reason to think otherwise. |

Not saying that pointing fingers would change what happened or not, what's done is done.
What makes me mad is that someone in the bureau tried to voice considerable concern about credible leads that could have probably foiled 9/11, and no one listened. Now a lot of people are dead, and boarding a plane will seem like walking past a fortified checkpoint for decades to come. What the hell do we fund the FBI for in the form of taxes? So they can sit on their ass?? It's not like they had to dig around for certain strong leads. The evident threat was there, and in order to appease superiors nothing was done about it. If the idiots who call the shots can't put two and two together, nothing ever gets done, hence 9/11.
Talk about national security. |

just my humble (ok not so humble) opinion but you seem to make an awfull lot of presumptions about what the FBI does and doesnt do. yes our tax dollars fund them but they still do have limits to their resources and every tidbit of information can not be fully investigated in every situation.
lets assume that the FBI did have information regarding middle eastern men seeking to learn to fly but not take off or land. i would think the logical assumption would be that they might be conspiring to hijack a plane. while this is obviously a threat it is not in any way an indication of what would transpire on the 11th.
let me remind everybody that up to sept 10th nobody ever used a hijacked plane as a weapon. the logical assumption would be that if a plane was hijacked it would be handled just as any other hijacked plane in the past. to assert that the FBI had a notion that 2 hijacked planes would be flown into the world trade center and 2 planes would be hijacked and bound for washington DC targets and they did nothing is foolish and feeds into the rhetoric that political posturing brings. |

No one predicted that the terrorists would use the jet liners as weapons. This doesn't mean that because a terrorist would typically hijack a commercial jet and it's passengers for ransom that the matter should have been given less priority, or paid that much less attention to.
It shouldn't take thousands of lives for the FBI to have a more pro-active approach to credible threats of imminent attacks on US soil. |

In-fighting with our government over stupid things like this. Isn't that what they wanted? |

Before you all 'kill' the FBI I have two questions:
1. The individuals taking flying lessons... were they in the country legally???
2. If so what is illegal about taking flying lessons??? |
|
| |
I think that the bottom line is that some sort of terrorist acts will happen again. It is hard to stop people who are willing to die in the act of killing innocent people. For all we know people may lay low for years and then strike.
There will always be ways we can look back and say we missed this or we missed that but I think what we have to look at what is causing the bombings and such around the world and what can we do globialy to try to reduce the risk of it happening again |
