Suggested settings for high bandwidth connectionsI have a cable modem, and with my settings as they are:
2659kbps/809kbps
Tcp Recieve Window: 372300 (from @home tweak) Windows Scaling: yes Time Stamping: no Selective Acks: default Path MTU Discovery: default Black hole detection: no Max Duplicate ACK's: 3 Time to live: blank(default I guess) MaxMTU: 1500 :Info easily gotten from DrTcp.exe:
I keep getting only 65535 shows as my recieve window in the tweak applet.
Roughly I have read your page, and it suggests that I use a window of 531800 for max, and 398850 for typical... wow... Please tell me if I got this wrong. |

You talk about tweak tester and Dr TCP. I don't recall neigher I nor Justin advising >65535 windows. In particular, I am telling people that 99% do not need to tweak beyond 65535 and a majority will be just fine with 32KB window. So, you've probably refering to someone else's post.
Anyway, the reason 372300 does not work is due to a bug in vtcp.386. See MS KB articles Q239705,Q236926. One of them describe the problem but the other has a link to the download that you need to solve that bug.
However, after the fix you'll see that you are getting 356960 instead of 524280 that 372300 would normally scale up due to another bug that MS needs to fix (this is not documented by MS yet, I've found it by using a sniffer).
