Re: How to setup an FTP behind a linksys 4-port router

ok, it worked, but it won't except the password I made for MyWebServer. I tried my windows xp account name and password and it worked then and brought me to the linksys router page. Any ideas?

If it brought you to your router page your still not forwarding it correctly and its not getting to the actual server.

That's because you used the public IP provided to you by your ISP, and as far as I know, Linksys does NOT support the loopback feature.

Try it with the internal IP (192.168.x.x) of the webserver in your browser.

Actually that is what you want to do, hit your public IP in and you should hit your page, I can do it here anytime I want with FTP or HTTP, its supported, but yes you can also see if it works by just hitting the NAT IP from the browser too, but that dont prove it works on the outside.

So you're saying the Linksys router supports loopback? I know that the Netgear RT314 does NOT.

The Linksys BEFSR41 does support loopback.
