Broadband Modem (Hardware) → How good are the doxport 1110?

Anyone using this modem? If so, how well does it perform?

The Doxport1110 DOCSIS 1.1 modem uses the same chipset as the Motorola SB4100 (Broadcom BCM3350), so I would assume it would perform similarly.

very nice modem... boots almost as fast as the toshiba's(PCX2200/2500) and has the built in diag just like the motorolas..

i'm talking about the 1110XB, which is the newest modem they make.. the 1110(no XB) does not have the buil in diag:(

even then it's a great modem and gets my recommendation:)

the 1110XB also has a different chipset, it uses the newest Broadcom BCM3345(just like the motorola SB4200). the 1110 uses the BCM3350(just like the SB4100)

Ok. The chipset # are going in reserve. What does the diag do for me? Will I need it?

It shows the signal levels (downstream, upstream, signal to noise ratio) of your modem as well as other information. It can be quite useful for troubleshooting in case of disconnects, packet loss or other modem related issues.

I have had that Cable Modem since I signed up with ATTBI (then @home) a year and a half ago now (it was Jan of 2001).

I have not had any problems with it, and it seems to perform well. Of course, I don't have the doxport 1110XB, so I also don't have the built in diag. Not that I really need it because the modem has given me zero problems, but it would be nice if something were to happen.

The Com21 1110 (non XB) has a built in diagnostic webpage, but you have to have the private IP of the modem to access it.

That link for DOCSDIAG in howie1253's sig might help with getting the private IP.

i have never used the 1110, but did just read the tech notes and your right!

does anyone know how to access a diagnostics page that would give me the signal to noise ratio on my com21 1110XB?
Ive been having serious problems with my cable service since getting one and my cable company (mediacom) is blaming the whole thing on signal to noise ratio.
pls help

i don't think the Com21 reports SNR... thats one caveat:(

Havent had a problem with this one. Had the older model but id stopped working so Adephia replaced it with this model.
