Who's Complaining?

I am a former satisfied Flashcom subscriber. It was during my fist foray into dslreports, 3 weeks or so ago, that I learned about their inevitable demise (their math is screwed up, not to mention main memory - I had to keep giving them my card number, but it never gets charged until finally all at once.) At the same, I recalled a couple of mail messages from Telocity in my in box, which I have not paid attention to. Sure enough you's guys were right, but, but, I haven't heard from Flashcom, so I wrote asking if it was indeed true that my cute little 3Comm SDSL modem is about to become obsolete. No answer. I start looking around. WinFire says there is a holdup with the phone company, although I've been waiting for months. MSN says I am on some 6 month internet access freebie, and I don't even own an analog modem. I thought CNET might have something, but no dice, 128 up, yuk. I need to have my work as soon as I get home from work and vice versa. Finally with about 2 weeks to go Flashcom comes crying, tears in their eyes, and a magic account number for a calm transfer at sea to Telocity. Although reluctant because of the horrors I've read in DSLrpts, but desperate, I signed up with two weeks til ground zero. Within a day or so, I received confirmation, but they had the wrong number, so I wrote back, and they wrote back to make sure I accepted the offer. I went back to make sure I accepted the offer. And then one day, the mail said my connection is being transferred over to Telocity on January 10, and that my router will be there or shortly thereafter. Oh good. By the way, what day is it, JANUARY 10!!! Rush home during lunch to bid adieu to my friend, but alas it was still working, that is until late that night. Oh well, good thing we have T1 at work. The next day, however, the router was there waiting for me. Plugged it right in, even though the e-mail said no W2K support. Nothing, troubleshoot, nothing. Oh Sh_t. The guys is right, no W2K, so I rigged for dual boot, which led to one thing and another, so that I ended up hosing two rigs. Turns out this router not only supports W2K, but it also likes the uplink port of my hub. They forgot to tell me to set my NIC cards to obtain auto IP. I thought they have taken over Flashcom's block as well. That, my e-mail address, and the echo on my telephone earpiece (speakerphone), are all I can gripe about. Otherwise, getting me my service in no time, the extremely easy and flexible set-up (USB, p-port), steady chug at on or about the promised 384/384 for $40 is not so bad. Faster speed for less is the only thing that can beat it now.
