Bender2000 posted : how can that be? If the phone line is dsl capable, it should be capable on other dsl providers. Afterall, it's been said many many many times. the service goes from home > Bell CO > competitor ISP. now, it's already proven that you can go from the home > Bell CO (since sympatico is available in these areas). So why is it a logistical problem to route this data off the Bell network onto the competitor ISP backbone? Maybe someone with a nonbiased technical background could clue us in on this.

Praxus0 posted : Anyone else finding this...that you have Sympatico DSL
but when you check availibility on other ISPs web sites its
says not available ? I've had HSE for like 2 years, and just started looking at other providers now...and I find
90% of ISP web sites forms are saying I'm not available
for DSL. So I called AEI this morning and they checked,
supposedly using 'bell nexxia's' database, and sure enough
it brought me up as not available. Yet when I went to Bells
HSE availablity form, (which the AEI guy said used the
same system - guess not!) it said it WAS available. The AEI guy was pissed wondering if Bells database was costing him business.
Since private ISPS use Bells line cards in the CO etc; you
would think that if you have Sympatico HSE you could use another provider as long as they did business in your area.

Any thoughts on this bs... or is it just me hehe.
