attbi cable/internet down in Manteca, CA

ATTBI cable and internet cable service has been down in
all or part of Manteca, CA (pop 51,500 ) all day - call
to service with my zip code gets a recorded message that
says so. Anybody know what happened? Lucky me, I kept
my "inreach" dialup....

Yup. It was a creamery stop on the railroad and they meant
to name it "butter", but unlike "mantequilla", "manteca"
has two meanings. So, yes, cable modem/digital cable
service was down yesterday for much of "Pig Fat,
California". Today it's back up for everybody but us - we
have a commitment for a tech visit Next Wednesday. Sheesh.
Lucky we have both good old reliable Inreach dialup and
good old reliable DirecTV - my wife has multiple
sclerosis, is wheelchair bound, doesn't get
out much, and for her cable TV was her major source of
entertainment - haven't yet been able to persuade her she
can get along without ATT Cable but we're getting
closer.... --Mike

Third day without service, sigh. They say they'll come
out, oh, next Wednesday, unless I can find 3 other
subscribers who are also out. Grrr. --Mike

How 'bout working on Downtown Sacramento (95816) - service has been utter SH*T since 5/25. Got all the info for the viewing since AT&T doesn't want it, but only want me to do it to frustrate me, just waitin' for a volunteer that can help. What's even more frustrating is watching the people in my surrounding area that have had the issues, for less time than I, get fixed and fall off this board one by one.

Sixth day without service. AAARGH!!!!!!
So the attbi contractor guy asked me a month ago,
"You're an attbi subscriber but you use inreach for
your email?"
And I replied, "Yes, inreach is a lot more reliable,
attbi has had a lot of goofy email problems...."

And on the Seventh Day, attbi rose to the challenge and
came out and fixed the problem. I wasn't here, and my
wife, who with MS is vague in her own right, passed on
what the gentleman said "Someone disconnected you". No
further info (NFI?). He wrote in the work order portion of
the big pink sheet "DBM". Been trying to figure out what
that means: "Damn Busted Mechanics"? "Dissembling Blarney
Mantra"? "Dog Bites Man"? "Don't Blame Me [or
Mobilemedia]"? Anyway, when I called they credited us for
the lost week, which was nice, and mentioned somebody else
had already credited us for part of it - whoever that
somebody is, thank you. Jeanne's happy, she has her cable
TV back and I'm happy because it's a lot easier to post
this kind of mischief ( ) at cable modem speeds. Bless

Just kidding, it takes att a week to do anything, and then you have to show them what to do and how to fix it
