Hot ListWhy do people cut me off my downloads in Napster when I download all their songs after adding them to my Hot List? I am not a bot. |

It's just human nature, most of like to share some things with different people, but not everything with the same person. Just try downloading a few songs a day from the person and you shouldn't have any problems. If the same person tried to download all of my mp3's at once, or one right after another I would cut them off too.
Also the security comes in to play, if you trust a stranger to connect to your pc for a long time they can obtain your IP address and hack into your pc. With tiny firewall I can get every ones ip address that tries to download from me, Of course I am not going to do anything. But some people will, and this makes everyone uncomfortable. |

that is an extremely rude thing to do. You are taking all of their bandwidth for long periods of time. There is a reason when you go to search, many entries come up. [text was edited by author 2001-01-26 01:41:58] |

You can also limit the number of downloads any one person can downlaod at a given time. |

If I want to get, say 5 items from somebody's Hotlist, I'd IM them first and say something like: "There are 5 of your tunes I'd like to get. Is that okay? Feel free to grab as much as you like from my Lib." If you-all had someone IM you like that, would it rub you the wrong way or would it incline you to allow 'em to d/l? Personally, I would prefer someone asking--and I like it when they leave a "Thanks" (which I find a few of in the mornings). |

Yes, I would allow anyone, that took the time to IM to download 5, as long as they had high speed not dialup. It comes down to common courtesy, ask someone if you want more than two. |

Personally, I avoid as much possible doing that, but if they are like the only people on napster that have the song, then I do it anyway without IMing them first. However, if someone tries to download a complete album of what I have, I don't care at all really, even if is easy to find and if they don't IM me. |
