Re: Don't order Router!!! You dont need it!!!

AOL assigns a new IP everytime you connect, so set it to Obtain IP Address Automatically.

For the LAN setup, you can assign each computer NIC with it's own IP (ie. 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101, etc.) and set everything else up normally for your file and print sharing (select the files/folders in your drive to share, and allow Print Sharing in your network setup).

First, let's set up your LAN. I don't know what type of equipment you're using, so I hope everything in this tutorial will help: »www.netsimple.co.uk/user ··· etup.htm

Next, let's try to set up your file and print sharing:

Go here for some great tutorials on how to set up the LAN using various OS (since you didn't specify which OS you're using): »www.netsimple.co.uk/user ··· ares.htm

The main (home) page for the above site is here: »www.netsimple.co.uk/user ··· pLAN.htm

Hopefully everything will work. It worked for me, and I know nothing about networking. If you are still having problems, I suggest to posting/searching in the Networking forum for additional help, since this forum is for AOL and not networking.

Also, are you using a Hub/Switch/Router?
OS?
Which version of AOL are you using?
Are you logging on to AOL using different Screen Names on each computer?

Glad to hear your AOL MSL is working!

Now, as far as your file and print sharing problem, did you go to the websites I listed above?

If you are still having problems, begin a new thread in the Networking Forum: »Networking. Be sure to include the OS of your machines, brand and model of your router/switch/hub, and anything else pertinent to help you troubleshoot. The more information you give, the better the help you will receive.
