Now, just set AOL for TCP/IP or Home Network to sign on and get the DNS Servers for you.

You still need AOL to sign on to the 'net... Crappy setup...

Easy Fix: Do what I did and get Cable... No waiting for DSL providers to switch for you, and it's not as bad as everyone thinks...

Question, will aol charge more for the multiple ip addresses? I've hooked my modem to the hub and all three of my computers are able to get online using different ip address/user names. I just didn't want to get a huge bill at the end of the month for using multiple ip addresses. I used to have an AOHell account a long time ago. I moved in with my Fiancee in Philly. She had AOL DSL, so instead of switching to verizon right away, I decided to give AOL a try. IT SUCKS!!

If anyone knows how to log in to AOL DSL with just a straight PPOE log in, PLEASE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW...

Need help here, I'm running windows 2K-pro with aol plus 7.0 ver. 254...I have an Ethernet PCM100 card attached to the dsl modem. My computer gives me a green light on the task bar...indicating the dsl line is good. When I log on, it freezes at step 1. I checked the AOL sys info....under the connectivity tab...the digital line section, it shows that the "dsl not install" Any suggestion on how to fix this...thank you in advance

For the LAN setup, you can assign each computer NIC with it's own IP (ie. 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101, etc.) and set everything else up normally for your file and print sharing (select the files/folders in your drive to share, and allow Print Sharing in your network setup).

For some time now a limited supply of Linksys routers have been available for those members who call in with the desire to set up an AOL Broadband-based home network. These are unique units that are ONLY available through AOL, for now.

Recently Actiontec launched a line of routers that also carry the custom firmware. They are available now at AOL's Shop Direct, in the Hardware section under "Broadband/Modems", along with their associated adapters.

If you are on the 19.95 plan and got it to work without any fuss, then you have been quite lucky as far as I'm concerned. Also, The reason I am getting the "only one screename can be signed on per account" message is because I am trying to sign on two separate screenanmes ;)

Just got off the phone with the AOL Tech Support Rep, I've just about lost track of how many times I've called or who've I talked to or the status of the situation, etc etc All I know is I am getting different types of answers from different types of techs.

The only fundemental thing I am getting is a strong "NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" whenever I ask about this. They are not, will not, activate MSL on my account. With the amount of information they have given me over the past few days I doubt even if I do get the AOL branded router and comply with every single request they make I will still not be able to sign on with more than one name.

I will make one final attempt, this time I will try to speak directly to an AOL Tech Dept Supervisor. As far as the AOL Techs are concerned, the people on the $19.95 plan who did get this to work are persona non grata :P, at the very least you are far and few between or don't exist at all ;)

More updates as they come, though I believe this is the second to last post I will make on this thread.

Remember that account will Only work from where verizon services its gateway where the DSLAM and the entire DSL Line is serviced. Which is, obviously, back in NY.

So how in the world did you get into AOL? Were you ever an AOL member? (you have router?)

Did the person whom used to live in that home ordered AOL DSL services? I;m not quiet sure how you went about this setup...:)

Don't bother with AOL, because you are going to have to sign on with their client. Again, don't bother with it unless you do want to lose that simple pppoe connectivity.
