Kudos are in order

After spending way too long waiting for decent Internet access speeds in the suburbs of Houston, I was ecstatic to find out that this is available in my area. I called the salesperson, she was very knowledgeable, and the two questions that I had that she couldn't answer, she turned right to her supervisor and had an immediate answer. I scheduled the initial visit, was told it would be in 3 days, I got a call that they had an opening the very next day. (I was very lucky here - I don't expect that). The technicians came out, explained that they needed to do a "site survey" which included climbing around on my roof and checking for a strong enough signal. (Remember, this is line of sight) He did state before he even got out the ladder that my area is hard to get a good signal in because of all the trees. He spent at least 30 minutes trying to get a good signal, and then gave me the depressing news that I have too many trees in the way. He then went on to say that according to the signal that he was able to get, it was considered "acceptable with a short cable run" but that due to the roof position and location of my computers being so far apart, he would not recommend it because it would not be much faster than this dang modem. ::sigh::

I have to say that overall I was very pleased with the experience. I appreciate the honesty in not trying to sell me a service that would not possibly deliver what it promised, and I also appreciate the fact that all persons associated with this experience were knowledgeable and did not try to snow me about what they were doing, and they didn't get the "deer caught in headlights" look when I asked them some questions.

This may be something unique to Houston - the competency level I mean - but I have to give them an A for effort.
