Metroid Prime Sux ArseWarning to those who are hesitant of a Metroid Prime purchase for the cube. I got home, blew off the 3-inch layer of dust that has gatherd since roughly a year ago when I last played the system for Super Smash Bros Melee, I then proceeded to load what I feel is one of the most over hyped games of the last decade. Let me say I have played and loved the older Metroids, whether it was for NES, Gameboy or Snes, I played them, beat them, and loved them. This game though-must have come to the reviewers with a 10,000 dollar check attached, that's about all I can figure out-excluding gamespot.com-their just idiots, watch any "video review" of one of these guys and you'll know what i'm talking about. Aaaaaanyways, for starters, the "excellent" graphics that it supposedly has are false, the game isnt any better looking than Star Fox Adventures or Resident Evil the remake, I'd say Resident Evil 0 is more visually impressive, and this game for sure doesnt come close to the visuals of Halo. The bosses in this game remind me of the bosses from Zelda:Ocarina of time-they look the same...which would be great if this were still the N64 I was playing-not a Gamecube.Another problem I had visually was alot of bosses seem blocky...and areas seem rushed, theres alot of deatil in certain spots, and alot of open plain nothing in others. Second, the controls are horrible. I dont know what crack head Nintendo hired to make this controller-what's worse is the big "A" button thats twice the size of any other button on the pad-and it always gets used less than the others....look at games like NHL 2K3...you dont shoot the puck with the big "A"...what's up with that? Metroids controls ruin the expierence for several reasons-when certain points of the game do get interesting or a little tense, I have to take my eyes off the actions and stare at the controller to find out which buttons do what again-you'll shoot many a rocket on accident whilst trying to bring up the map-trust me!The music isnt anything special either, all in all i'm very dissapointed, I play FPS games all the time and I DO NOT rec. this game to anyone. If you MUST play an FPS game play Halo and/or wait for Halo 2 or at least Brute Force for the Xbox owners, if you only own a gamecube-get Timesplitters 2-I havent played Timesplitters 2, but it cant be worse-if you own a PS2-play Half-Life, or again Timesplitters 2, hell even Unreal Tournament...and if you have a powerful enough PC, play Half-Life and the 4 expansions, or Unreal Tournament 2003, hell I even had more fun with Serious Sam 2nd encounter! Just stay away from this crap...looks like more dust can accumulate ontop of the cube until Final Fantasy Crystals. I'm going back to playing Gta:Vice and WWE:Smackdown 4.... and Unreal 2K3 for PC =)~ |
