Sorry this has been happening on and off in the evenings for 3 weeks now, don't think it has anything to do with the rain.

I started noticing intermitent, really high ping times several weeks ago. Normally I get around 20-30ms to my gateway on my 128/1500 static account, but it was often jumping up to 500-1500ms. I started a line monitor running a few weeks ago and noticed that it had a very regular pattern of occurring from ~5 to ~7 pm every evening. It stopped for a week or two and now seems to have started up again.
I have a Speed Stream 5360 (060-5360-023) with a single 75' phone cable running directly from the access box to the modem. There are no other devices on the line. The service has been up for just over a year. For the last few months I've gotten a solid 128/1500 speed and no drops, no lost packet issues, and never lost sync without a network issue. If not for the latency I'd be happy as a clam.

Any help would be appreciated.

It seems like with / without the "WWW" thing resolved to different IP addresses. Similar to trace route to yahoo.com with / without "WWW" resolved to different IP...

You might want to try changing to the closest DNS Servers and try again...

So any ideas what teleglobal.net is doing here? Also, is sbc.google.com some sort of a local cache of www.google.com? Maybe sbc is caching google searches to free up some network resources. Not sure.

Really frustrating to have the lag monster come and go all night long when all I want to do is frag someone. Last night at one point I had worse then 56k speeds both up and down.

I hope someone figures out what the hell is going on and real soon!

None taken. That is the best thing to do. I would not give out my TN unless I knew the person was valid. :). But as toaster says I am ok. NO matter what they all say about me.
