Changing extensions names?What is the best way to change the extensions on file names and does it change the ms-dos name as well?

What do you mean? If you set up your explorer so, that it displays all extensions, you can mark a file and press F2. Then you can rename the file, and the extension at well.

Gottcha, thanks. I also found some information at the MS KB and MS book on Windows. I just thought there was more to it than that since it doesn't change the MS-DOS name of the file if you look in the files properties. |

You can also right-click on the file and, as with just changing the name, change the name and the .*. However . . . don't expect to open it into the relevant application by double-clicking it in explorer then (eg., if you change a "doc" extension to something other than ".txt" or one or two others like that, word can't open it from explorer.
