Re: Why the different route?

I believe the new routing scheme is more from BellSouth than UUnet as you can see from these screen shots. I don't recall my route to dslreports.com going through New Orleans and Houston, rather it went through Atlanta.

Hopefuly, we can get Andy or one of the other BS reps to comment on this issue.

I am beginning to lose faith in this happening. Really am unhappy at the way things are going. here are my latest stats:
»/quali ··· l/945868

2002-12-21 10:15:43 EST: 1153 / 207
Your download speed : 1153030 bps, or 1153 kbps.
A 140.7 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 207792 bps, or 207 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

Now this is not bad...Last night it was much lower. The route is just not stable, and hasn't been since they changed. What is going on???? If it's broke, FIX IT.

IMHO. You would think that in consideration of the fact that this thread was started on 12/07 and now contains 38 40 posts that a BS Rep would have entered the discussion. It is not that they are not visiting the forum so there must be another reason why they don't address this issue. IMHO

Joe P

BTW: Andy Houtz was on this forum this am.

My sentiments entirely....BS has probably done more damage to their image on this forum than those so called 'bean counting' mid level Dumb Dumbs could ever imagine, and they want to compete in the Long Distance mkt. They're not taking care of 9 states on DSL, how can they take on more?

It is still Bell South and I don't care if they do try to separate themselves with the .net and .com business.
Something should be done.

Yeah, I'm still going through Louisiana, then Dallas, then Atlanta to get to Atlanta from Miami But at least the latency isn't above 100ms.

Please post a trace route to DSLreports.com (209.123.109.175) I am curious since you are in Miami if you follow the same path as we do in West Palm Beach.

Thanks coolkoolie.

Your trace route from Miami, is almost the same as here in West Palm Beach, except for the 10th hop, which goes to Dallas-Fort Worth, whereas our 10th hop goes to Houston.
