What modding tool is out there to help me cut and place a window on my case? big and small case (small as in a Shuttle sv24)?

Sounds like you need a Dremel!

I use the Dremel for make the hole and cut the metal? Would this bend the case or slightly deform it if I put pressure to make a cut?

Dremels operate at extremely high speeds, so you won't need much pressure to make a cut, let alone dent the case. The only thing you may go through rapidly is Dremel bits for cutting.

Dremel is cool but might seem slow, well at least for me. I recommend a jig saw myself. It's faster and it can cut curves.:)

I have yet to try a jigsaw, but a dremel does very careful, and very clean work. The only thing needed is a lot of cutting wheels and a bit of patience to use it.

I have a plain old Dremel...you'll need a circular cutting wheel for the hole (you'll actually need a few of these). You can then smooth the edge with a grinding wheel.

I got a Dremel for xmas and plan on using it to do my mods, but I wonder if this bit will work in my Dremel or if it will only work in the Dremel Advantage Saw? Hmmmm.

well, i do have a CNC router at work.........:)

do jigsaws scuff up the metal surface?

if done wrong, yes. you have to cover the surface with premask (masking tape if you don't have access to premask).

you should also lay the panel on a thick piece of styrofoam. it will take up the vibration, and protect the blade.

jigsaws give the most accurate cuts, aside from CNC routers/milling machines/waterjets/lasers. jigsaws only cost $20-$30 though . the other mentioned tools range from $5000 to well over $100000.

That will work on any dremel, get a rotory attachment and cut away. Be warnted tho, those things leave a lot of gooblies around.

I love my dremel 395 that I got for x-mas from my girlfriend....check em out on ebay....they also have this to cut PERFECT blowholes from 1" -19" in diameter (wow 19" is one BIG blowhole)
