Need help recovering files from floppy, pls help!Does anyone know any reliable companies, programs or resources for recovering damaged/missing files from floppy disk? My sis lost work that she spent hours on, and it is an emergency. Are there any decent free/trial version programs (I previously installed the trial version of Norton, and the trial period has expired). All and any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks. |

Same thing happened to me once and I asked Steve Gibson about it, and I was told it would cost a lot of money to recover the data IF it can even be recovered at all. It's pretty much gone unless you want to spend big bucks. Thats how it was explained to me. Maybe something new has arrived? |

Yeah, I read somewhere that the kinda thing you're looking for is done by some company (I forget the name) for several thousand dollars. |

Thanks for the info. I tried scanning it with virus programs, checked out ok. Then I downloaded a undelete/recovery shareware? program called Directory Snoop, which said that the directory part of the floppy was damaged, and scandisk, while checking the folder area said that "The disk is seriously damaged and may need to be replaced. The damaged portion of the disk contains critical ..." Any other suggestions / resources? |

There is a folder in Windows called "Recent". Once I was able to partially recover a term paper out of it. But if I remember correctly, it will only get you till what was saved. Hope you were able to get it done. |
