If you're connected to a CO and there is an RT close by, you could ask kmac1 to help you, but whoever said that must have been extremely lucky.. usually it takes days to switch over. |

If anyone here has those kind of connections they are very good about keeping it secret. It won't happen through the use of this forum. On a more realistic time table if an RT is available to you it takes about 5-6 days depending on how easy it is to transfer (yes there are things that will make it longer). |

True.. I would say 6 Business days if you have a brand new DSL line.. if you have an existing account that is CO based then its more like 2-3 weeks.. |

In my opinion who ever told you that lifeman27 is pulling your chain..........I doubt very seriously that can be done, and I agree with packetmans statement even if its possible, the person doesn't value his job and is putting it in jeopardy. Ram |

I guess it *could* be done if you knew the *right* people.
I could have called my dad up since he works for SBC and see if he could get someone to come out and do something as a favour. He has 25+ years with the company and refers to COs by their CLLI code he has been there so long. I'm sure he could have pulled a few strings to make my downtime minimal when switching between AOL and SBC for DSL.
But, I figured that it might look kinda funny if he (an SBC employee) helped a Verizon Online employee (me) and a Sprint employee (my wife) get their DSL early.
Heck, as a kid I remember walking into COs when they actually had all the relays clicking back and forth.
As always it isn't who you know or what you know, but how well you use those resources when the time comes. |
