We have tested telephony gateways from different manufacturers, they're not always compatible. Chances are you won't be able to make a call from one to another, even when they're registered to the same server (softswitch or gatekeeper) using the same protocol.
On 8x8's website they claim to have certified Cisco IP phone with their server software, but not the ATA. Vonage uses open source software, it is not clear what Packet8 uses.
