Ex-Customer Signing back up to VZ= new customer?

I use to be a Verizon DSL customer but I canceled it due to certain circumstances. Now that I have the need for broadband again I'm looking at Verizon to provide me with the service again. I've noticed that they offer a special deal to new customers- First 6 months for $29.95, first month free, and a $25 Mastercard gift card. Would I qualify for this special offer?

One more thing, after the 6 months the bill seems to jump $20 to $49.95. Is there still a way to talk to the Verizon customer support to maintain a lower price on the service? Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The $49.95 is the price for month to month service. If you commit to a 1 year contact the price is $39.95 per month.

You should qualify as a new customer, unless they impose a time limit from the time you cancelled to the time you re-apply.

The special offer only applies if you order online I believe. Here's the link to the home packages just in case you haven't already seen it »www22.verizon.com/ForHom ··· ages.asp

The 49.95 price is "retail" and Verizon is required to quote it. Consider it the MSRP. Will it actually be that much? Not necessarily. If you qualify for Veriations, for example, your price will only be 34.95.

FYI --

If you were formally a splitter customer and not a splitterless customer(Filtered at the jacks). Be aware their MLT may read that splitter, if it still reside on the line as a load coil plus additional footage. Hopefully the tester is smart enough to tell the difference but it the past that wasn't the case.

Good luck...
