I stand corrected. Sorry.

The only reason you could buy a Terayon (models 100/110/210) from the Wiz was due to it's affiliation with Cablevision/OOL. They were not available anywhere else for retail sale. Get a brand new Toshiba 2200 for $59.00. Their "non-supported" firmware status is a non-issue. Never has been and probably never will be.

Why do you say that? Besides the Wiz, I remember seeing them for sale right on Terayon's web site.

Even today you can buy a new Terajet (latest model) online:

I'll agree 100% with this one. Great product.

I have seen the newest Terayons as well for retail sale. I was referring to the TeraJet 100/110/210 series only. They were never available at the retail level (except at the Wiz for the reason I mentioned above). Toshiba has a similar policy. Some of their modems were available through ISP's only (PCX2000,2500) and some were available at the retail level (PCX1100U, PCX2200). Sorry for any confusion.

I remember at the time I signed up, they had just switched to the Motorola. Top SB4100 speeds were about 4000-5000kb/s (this was before the speed patch update was available). EVERYONE wanted a Terajet (8000+ speeds) and many Wiz's were out of them. Not a single TJ could be found anywhere else except E-Bay. I remember searching just about every online and local electronics retailer. Thats how I ended up with a Toshiba PCX1100U (widely available online) and not a TeraJet.
